A sculpture of the knight Lohengrin dressed in military regalia in the act of removing his sword from his hip with a large swan at his feet by a European, likely German or Austrian artist, in the manner of Ruffino Besserdich.
The knight has long hair and is wearing the typical garb of a medieval knight. The piece is marked on the base as “Lohengrin”.

Legendary Lohengrin, the Swan Knight, a mysterious knight who arrives in a boat drawn by a swan, all to help a noble lady in distress.
The tale first appeared in Wolfram von Eschenbach’s Parzival (c. 1210), a poem with the theme of the Holy Grail.
It was also turned into a Romantic opera written by Richard Wagner, first performed in 1850
